I don't have a degree in Finance, actually quite the opposite, my degree is in Writing Arts and Communication. But I have been told two things repetitively in my life, you're a good blogger and you should be in finance.
After $70,000 worth of college I moved on to bigger and better things...I'm a receptionist by day and a restaurant host by night. Hardly bigger or better.
Since I was thrown to the wolves upon graduation I made a commitment to myself to try this whole "independent" thing. It's funny because when I was living with my parents I would spend money and hardly worry about sales and never once had a coupon in my possession, but now...if it isn't on sale, I don't have a coupon or I'm not getting cash back...then I say no thank you! In fact I only like to buy something if at least two of those apply.
This is my first rule.
1. Never ever EVER ever pay for anything if you don't have two of the following going for you:
a.) MAJOR sale - (40%-90%) off the retail price of the item
b.) Coupon - either a cut-out of the newspaper or promo code on the internet
c.) Cash Back - through your credit card/debit card
d.) www.ebates.com
